Why black previews are shown for some windows?

Generally Visual Task Tips show black previews for windows that use the so-called per-pixel transparency. I’m working on this problem and have some ideas how to fix it.

There is another type of problematic windows with black previews, they just don’t want to paint anything when Visual Task Tips request for painting. You may contact developer of such wayward program and ask him to fix this.

And finally the biggest trouble of all time — games and video players, they use DirectX or OpenGL for painting. I’m not familiar with these technologies and don’t know how to fix this.

Why previews for some minimized windows are not available?

Minimized windows behave like they don’t have "canvas" to paint on it. I have tried different methods to solve this issue but all of them produce some undesirable effects.

Currently Visual Task Tips does not show actual previews for minimized windows. In fact, it show a cached thumbnail preview copy if one is available, otherwise it show nothing.

Is there a way to start Visual Task Tips without the tray icon?

Yes, you may specify the noTrayIcon parameter in the startup command line of Visual Task Tips. For an example:

"C:\Program Files\VisualTaskTips\VisualTaskTips.exe" noTrayIcon

I didn't receive my registration key for 2 days after donation. What I should do next?

First of all check your e-mail client spam folder. Frequently registration e-mail message erroneously blocked by spam filtering software and placed into spam folder.

If you still didn’t find the registration message contact me at and ask me to resend your registration key.
